Piano Competition

Please chececk back for application procedure in the Fall of 2017.

Each completed, signed application should include:

  • A copy of the applicant’s birth certificate, or other official proof of age.
  • An electronic photograph of the applicant in a high-resolution, black-&-white JPEG file for the printed program (please title the photo as the applicant's first and last name);
  • A short biography including academic degrees and artistic achievement, such as major performances and/or awards or other honors, to be e-mailed to application@lapianocompetition.org;
  • Videos that clearly show the full body of the applicant performing multiple pieces that fulfill the requirements according to the Artist or Junior Level on the website, through either a mailed DVD or online links to videos through a system such as YouTube or another video-sharing website (please see instructions at the bottom of this page regarding online video management);
  • A non-refundable application fee of $100.00 via PayPal, credit card (through this website), or a mailed cashier's check or money order (no personal checks) made out to the Louisiana International Piano Competition. International participants from outside of the USA should be able to send a cashier's check in U.S. currency, which can be obtained from their local bank. A PAYPAL PAYMENT OPTION WILL BE AVAILABLE AFTER THE APPLICATION FORM IS SUBMITTED. YOU MUST FILL OUT ALL REQUIRED FIELDS TO SUBMIT THE APPLICATION.


YouTube is preferred, but comparable accessible video-sharing websites are also accepted.
If you have never managed a YouTube channel:

  • Sign up for a free YouTube account through the top-right corner of YouTube.com.
  • Upload your videos. (Existing videos of the applicant that are already on the Internet are also acceptable, but the combined average age of all submitted videos should not be more than 2 years old.)
  • Confirm that the videos’ publicity setting is set to a value other than Private.
  • Prepare to copy & paste the links to these videos into their appropriate fields in the application below.

Certification

I hereby certify that I have read and understood the rules of the Louisiana International Piano Competition, and, if accepted as a competitor, will abide by them.

Preliminary Round

Minimum duration: None
Maximum duration: 30 minutes

The competitor must send a mailed DVD or provide links to LIPC-accessible videos online according to the rules for the Preliminary Round.

Video Sample
Please select the type of delivery for a video performance sample. Please note that the combined average age of all submitted videos should not be more than 2 years old.
If other is selected please specify delivery method of the sample performance video.

NOTES ON ENTERING REPERTOIRE: Please see the bottom of the Artist Level Repertoire page for rules concerning how to properly enter repertoire in the fields below.

First Round

Minimum duration: None
Maximum duration: 30 minutes

The competitor must perform the same pieces used in the video-recorded Preliminary Round. No changes will be allowed. The Jury may ask for any work, or any part of any work of each competitor's program.

Semifinal Round

Minimum duration: None
Maximum duration: 45 minutes

Provide a recital program of the competitor's choice; no works may be replayed from previous rounds.

Final Round

A complete concerto chosen from the following list:
